COVID 19 UPDATE: We respect guidelines set by federal, state and local agencies,
WE ALSO RESPECT YOUR RIGHT to choose being, or not being, vaccinated for COVID19. This is an outdoor based experience and you will drive your own vehicle to and from the waterways, parks and winery. Please remember we cannot control our partners and other guests healthcare decisions, or force them to wear masks. By you purchasing a travel/tour product from Matchcoat Sojourner you understand and take on the risks associated with traveling and coming into contact with other people who could transmit COVID19.
We are PROFESSIONAL AND LOCAL GUIDES with experience to help you better understand the basics of local shoreline fishing and our heritage within this area. Much more than just catching fish, we work with you to improve your basic understanding and skills and give you tools that you can use on future trips to the area. Our guides are not transplants but close family and friends who have a rich heritage on these waters & are dedicated to wanting you to have a basic understanding of local fishing! This is an easy fishing class geared towards beginners, so no experience or equipment is needed.
MEETING TIMES for trip schedules can vary; allow at least four hours for your time with us, as driving through the countryside can take twenty minutes to an hour from waterway to winery. Typically, during the early season, we meet at the home base at 8 or 9 AM as fishing is better when water warms. During the regular season we typically meet at the home base at 7:00 AM when the water is cooler. In the heat of the summer, we may split the day fishing early and late (5-9). All trips include bait, rods, reels and all the necessities to learn and try out the basics of local shoreline fishing. Tastings include a heritage based, seasonal, locally produced meal for your trip out. This trip typically has a three part location, which may vary with season: home base, shoreline/waterway, endpoint at local farm/winery. We send you location and timing info based on who signs up and the local forecast. Know that weather shifts quickly here, and differs widely, so our home base point may shift.
WEARING LAYERS of clothing is helpful as temperatures and weather can vary. Long sleeved shirts and pants are recommended to protect from sun and bugs, as is a hat, sunglasses and closed toed shoes (snakes, turtles, frogs, bugs can be around). Bring your favorite sunscreen, bug spray and smile. Fill your gas tank up to full, as we will be traveling through remote areas off the beaten path, and you may not have access to your gps or phone service. Pack kindness, humor, curiosity and flexibility - we do not control mother nature - and that is where our adventure begins.
UP TO FIVE DAYS required for cancellations, with the right to pass on our credit processors cancelation fees. Please call if you have any questions prior to booking. Cancellations are accepted up until 5 days before the trip. After that time the cost of the trip will be charged. No shows are charged full trip price. We can try to reschedule guests where space is available if an emergency comes up. We ask you to please recognize a local farmer, fisher and vintner have all created time, energy and product prior to your arrival for the day of your experience.
